The perks of adding Rounding to your meditation practice

As a Vedic meditator, what are the benefits of learning Rounding? Why add it to your practice?

First, let’s go over what Rounding is. Rounding is a simple, gentle sequence of a few different practices. There’s yoga asanas (poses), followed by breathwork, followed by 20 minutes of Vedic meditation, finished with savasana (resting pose). Combined, this sequence makes up a Round.

Carefully designed to work on clearing deeply rooted stress, tension and fatigue in all layers of the nervous system, Rounding allows the mind and body to settle down and rest at extraordinary levels. And as you know from your own VM practice, it’s only once we’re in a deeply rested state that we can release the stress lurking in our system, and reconnect with pure Being, the deepest most blissful part of ourselves.

Rounding has an incredible ability to help progress the experiences we have in meditation. It’s a bit like putting a turbo-booster on your practice – it facilitates the release of more deeply rooted stresses and tension as well as furthering our experiences of transcendence, but in a way that is gentle, nourishing and calming to the nervous system. Regular rounding gives us prolonged exposure to higher states of awareness and bliss that accelerates our eyes open experience of life and rapidly advances our experiences in meditation.

No yoga experience is necessary and you do not need a high level of physical fitness or flexibility to Round - it is gentle, easy and modifications are available as needed.Rounding is something we can do every day if we wish, or we can add it in once a week, or whenever we feel charmed.

I share Rounding in a super nurturing, relaxing and supportive half-day retreat style setting. This is an opportunity to let go of the craziness of daily life for a few hours and be nurtured and guided through a beautiful new practice. We’ll share a nourishing, Ayurvedic homecooked early dinner as well as herbal tea and healthy treats. There’ll be plenty of time to relax and connect with new friends too.

If you love your meditation practice and feel curious to take the next step, make sure you come along to the next half-day Rounding retreat - drop me an email at hello@brightsidemeditation.com to find out when the next one is on.
