Meditation myths every beginner falls for
These are the most common traps I notice new meditators falling into when they first start practising – how many did you fall for in the beginning?
When fear attacks
Ahhhh, fear. Most of us know it pretty well. We may have even found ourselves in a position where it has become a standard part of our everyday lives. But what is fear?
Real freedom
With Melbourne coming out of lockdown restrictions, there’s been a lot of talk of freedom. As we enjoy the newfound sense of physical freedom (and deservedly so!) I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means to be free.
What is the ego?
What’s the ego? It’s that “voice” of the mind that’s constantly narrating your experience of life. Now you might be wondering what’s wrong with that, and if you are, I encourage you to spend a day observing your mind and noticing what it says.
What's so special about Vedic meditation?
A meditation on what it is that sets Vedic meditation apart, and why I, and so many others, love it so. VM is transforming lives all over the globe, so let’s take a look at a few of the reasons why.
Growth
“The most important spiritual growth doesn’t happen when you’re meditating or on a yoga mat. You are right on track
In the midst of growth, transformation and discovering more about yourself, times can be turbulent.
Letting go beyond meditation
Your job is to be guided by this principle of letting go beyond your practice, so that you may surrender to the magic of this very moment.
Give up the need to be right
When you have nothing to prove, you have nothing to lose. Art by Real Fun, Wow.
Which meditation is the best meditation?
As a meditation teacher, it might not be good for business to say this, but I don’t believe Vedic meditation is the only technique that works.
You are not your thoughts
The average human has 70,000+ thoughts a day these days. How many of yours would you say are positive? How many are you actually even aware of?
10 tips for sticking to your meditation practice
Given half the chance, our brains will often give us every excuse under the sun as to why we shouldn’t sit down and meditate.
Baggage
If you imagine a human being and all our accumulated experiences, it’s a little like imagining we’re all walking around with big suitcases.
To deny your past
You could erase a regretted past relationship, but would you do it if it meant erasing the one you have now?
Our innate humanness
A significant part of any spiritual journey is paying reverence to the fact that we are still innately human, incarnated in this lifetime to witness the world through a human experience.
